We’ve got a new project in the works called High Crimes: The Impeachment of the Worst President in US History. It’s gonna be an annotated re-enactment of the impeachment proceedings of Andrew Johnson. Our research has us pouring over congressional records and digging up speeches by Frederick Douglass in opposition to arguably our nation’s most bigoted president. But before we put up a draft in March 2019, we are going to share a few small snippets in December.

The Dionysium, Alamo Drafthouse’s Forum Series, has invited us to present what we have so far at their Autumn Show: History. Along with a couple historical re-enactments, we are inviting constitutional law professor Corey Brettschneider, author of The Oath and the Office, to discuss interpretations of “high crimes and misdemeanors” and what exactly are the constitutional obligations and restrictions of the executive branch. We don’t know what we’re doing! So please join us as we take a look back at history to find out how we’ve ended up in this mess and to see if there isn’t any learning we can do from our past mistakes. We need your input!
