Hey, hi.
It’s been a minute, right? Yes.
So… we’re doing a thing in Fusebox Festival called Contranyms and we’d love to see you there. Kirk is writing it. Shawn and Madge are directing it. Alex, Thomas, Lana, Anna and Mari are co-creating and some of that bunch are “performing.” Other people will contribute and we’ll tell you who they are. Fusebox is including it in their festival lineup, which is cool, thank you, FB.Also, we are going to do some other things this year, like… we will press play on some things we paused, like stand-up comedy workshops, Why We’re Here, Art Tramp and Great Loop. We’ll kick off a new thing within the year called Do It / Ruin It, stay tuned for that. And we might have some kind of cool announcement by summer, or not… time is a construct.

Remember in the not-too-distant past when the U.S. citizens from the far, far left and far, far right who were caught posting violent rhetoric online were sent to Chant Camps?

The camps were supposed to re-train people to mean the same thing when they said words like ‘Democracy,’ ‘Love,’ and ‘Justice.’

Rude Mechs revisits this alternative history and recreates the tragic ending that collapsed that timeline with the audience cast as inmates chanting along.

Our love and thanks to Patrick Bresnan for this beautiful photograph.

THANK YOU!

We are so grateful to everyone that has shared their hard-earned cash money with us throughout these difficult years. Because of you, and particularly if you are a monthly giver, we were able to keep CRASHBOX open and affordable for the arts community that has been making great use of it.

Rude Mechs is pleased to announce The Department of Theatre and Dance and the College of Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin continues to host our residency. Rude Mechs provides students the opportunity to observe our work and collaborate with us via group workshops, mentorship and respondent feedback on student-devised work and processes. We also share our space, Crashbox, with them. We always look forward to learning from the students, being inspired by their work and opening our company up to them as they forge their own paths in the world of the performing arts.
