Year Round –
Why We’re Here –
We will be meeting weekly with participants over the course of the season to create a project for the public in April 2021.

Rude Mechs Artist Residencies at The Plant at Kyle – Austin artists are invited to apply for 4-day residencies at The Plant to unplug, recover, dream, stare.

Crashbox Artist Residencies – Austin artists are invited to apply for month-long residencies at Crashbox to create!

Time is so weird now.

We miss you.

Since we’ve been at home working apart from each other and apart from you, we’ve had some ideas about how to reach you and we’ll be working on ways to do these things safely with each other and for you.

A tiny parade on your block. A scavenger hunt. A promenade piece. A parking lot dance. An epistolary piece.

There is nothing new under the sun. But also, this is new.

Click here if you can support Rude Mechs with a one-time or recurring donation.

What we have brewing right now…

We are a proud Partner Theatre for THE BREATH PROJECT ,which will culminate in a virtual festival of 8 minute 46 second-pieces by artist sof color. We look forward to producing the work submitted by central Texas artists at Crashbox, once it is safe to do that.

We are continuing our partnership with Casa Marianella to develop WHY WE’RE HERE – our program to amplify the voices of Austin’s immigrant population using the tools of autobiographical writing for performance.

Since we launched the [free] RUDE MECHS ARTIST RESIDENCY in partnership with The Plant at Kyle last year, we have provided residencies for 20 Austin artists! Thank you to The Plant at Kyle for hosting!

We’re thrilled to announce we’ve been hosting month-long CRASHBOX ARTIST RESIDENCIES in our venue, Crashbox, since June.

And finally, we’re saving the holidays with our adaptation of A Christmas Carol, and we’re delivering it to you with a brand new app called CYRANO PLAYS, which will let you perform our plays YOURSELF in your own home with your own pod or family. Please keep an eye out for the Kickstarter Campaign heading your way – we will need your help spreading the word!
