THE REPLACEMENT TAPES

Come explore a wild new idea in which we make the play and you perform it.

Put on a pair of headphones and be a part of the wild world of the WACs (Women’s Auxiliary Corps). Help out as their founder attempts to petition D.C. for full pay for all women who served. A mostly-historically accurate retelling of the founding of the WACs (with a few lies to keep you guessing) as the Rudes investigate service, cabaret, and personal joy, stolen from a plot by O. Henry, and updated to include more sex, dancing, and strange dangers.

Take part in this interactive adventure by renting a performance kit!

Here's How The Night Will Work

Before you rent, we recommend planning the evening.

You’ll need eight people to perform the piece. You can invite as few or as many more as you wish.

You’ll want a space where you can set up the eight chairs and a stand for the tape recorder (aka the stage) so everyone is visible to each other (more fun) and can easily get to the stage (also more fun).

Get your friends together, press play on the tape recorder, and start following the instructions to create a wild night of entertainment by an award-winning theatre company.

It’s old-school technology. It will do weird things. There’s no wrong way to do any of this, so just go with it!

Here's How The Rental Will Work

You pay us $35.00.

We send you a box containing a tape recorder, headphones, a cassette tape and return shipping.

You have one month with the box, then we ask that you return it to us. If you lose or break anything, just buy a replacement one and send that back to us instead. If you replace it with the exact same thing, we never even need to know.

We only have 5 sets total, so if there are more than 5 requests at a time, there will be a wait list. OR you can pay another $35.00 and we’ll buy another set and send that to you right away.

Have fun!
