At present, Rude Mechs’ venue Crashbox is closed, and all pre-planned public events, such as readings, rehearsals and performances were canceled as of March 18th. As we continue to receive guidance from various agencies, our building status may change. Please continue to check our website for updates as the situation develops.
As we closely track the Covid-19 situation and eagerly await the day we may safely congregate, we are making plans to maintain a clean and safe environment and promote social distancing. These include:
• Daily disinfection of high traffic areas and surfaces (doorknobs, faucet fixtures, library furnishings, etc.).
• Availability of tissues, hand soap/towels, and hand sanitizer in high-use spaces.
We ask all of you who visit Crashbox to help us keep our building a welcoming and safe space:
• If you feel (even a little!) sick, please stay home – we’ll miss you, hope you feel better soon, and look forward to seeing you when you are symptom free.
• Per the CDC, if you are at higher risk for serious illness because of your age or a serious long-term health problem, we encourage you to consult with your doctor as you consider attending public events. If you RSVP for a ND event and later elect to stay home, we support your decision! We simply ask that you alert us of your cancellation.
• Cough into a tissue or a sleeve, not your hands.
• Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds (we’d love to hear what your favorite handwashing song is!), and refrain from touching your face often.
• Consider a friendly wave instead of handshakes and hugs.
Knowledge is Power – we encourage you to stay informed.
Check the CDC’s website (www.cdc.gov) and TX Dept of Health & Human Services website (https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/coronavirus/) often, for situation updates. Any questions you have for our “local health entities” can be directed to Dr. Carlos Plasencia at 713-767-3000.
Thank you for all you continue to do for and with Rude Mechs– and be well.
Sincerely,
Madge, Thomas, Kirk, Shawn, Lana and Alex
