Minus Tide
co-produced by Bayou Radio Productions in Rude Mechs’ second-stage series
written by Kimberly Burke | directed by Ellie McBride
May 25 – June 10, 2006 at The Off Center (Austin, TX)
ABOUT THE PLAY
This darkly funny and subtly disturbing vision follows two people – Allison, a young entomologist, and Tim, a soldier. They are brought together in conflict, separated by war, and then brought back together in the peaceful aftermath where the true nature of conflict, desire, and psychological collateral damage come to bear. It is a stunning piece of work and will leave you with much to take home with you.
MINUS TIDE is directed by Rude Mechs Company Member Ellie McBride, who directed the dirigo group’s production of “The Jinn” last season. It stars Liz Fisher and Colum Morgan and features designs by Lowell Bartholomee (video), Robert S. Fisher (sound), Megan Reilly (lighting), and Leilah Stewart (scenic). This is a brand new script by Austin Playwright Kimberly Burke, who brought it home after a year of working on it during her stay in Minneapolis as a Jerome Fellow. The play has received interest from many national companies and we could not be prouder to give it its first taste of the stage right here in Austin.

ABOUT THE SECOND STAGE
The Second Stage is an opportunity for Rude Mechs’ company members and associates from the larger Austin arts community to develop new work, present works-in-progress, and stretch their theatrical muscles. Second Stage performances are produced under a low-to-no budget and take place in a casual late-night or top-of-the-week environment.
